Overview
The two-day Developers course offers potential OPC product developers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with OPC technology and robust OPC client/server development techniques.
The main focus for the course is on the Data Access specification for DCOM and XML. Other specifications, security settings, performance assessments and sample applications are also presented in detail.
Participants will be given ample opportunity to gain practical experience. The first day of the course focusses mainly on the OPC technical specifications. The second day is devoted to the development of OPC server an client applications.

- Introductory overview of OPC (history, concept, significance)
- Presentation of technological fundamentals (DCOM, XML, Web Services and .NET, etc.)
- Comparison between OPC and existing solutions(proprietary drivers, DDE servers)
- Explanation of current specifications(OPC Data Access 2.0x, 3.0, OPC XML Data Access 1.0, OPC Data eXchange etc.)
- Performance assessment and sample applications
- Implementation of a Modbus OPC server
- Creation of Excel clients using Visual Basic for Application

Attendee Requirements
Participants should be comfortable coding applications in Visual C++/.NET.

Course Cost
